First Impression: Steins;Gate

Note: the black and blue thing here are not made by Falost and Tsundere_Lover
it's just that I forgot about the colour used for this girl's post

Yo, I’m one of the few female members in crane group, who had posted twice here. It’s been ages since I posted here, sorry *bow*.
The first spring anime I watched was Steins;Gate and I’m going to review this here (the first episode to be exact). This one had my interest actually because of its cool vibes LOL. The cool red-haired girl, cool title (Steins;Gate...what is this I don’t even know), cool VN producer (yes this anime is adapted from visual novel with the same title), Nitro+ which is well known for top-rated VN (another member had posted the review of the visual novel before, you can take a look here)

Let’s get to the main thing...

Asami Imai as Kurisu Makise

OP: "Hacking to the Gate" by Kanako Ito
ED: "Tokitsukasadoru Jūni no Meiyaku" (刻司ル十二ノ盟約) by Yui Sakakibara (Yui Sakakibara again...after Chaos;Head)

This story is set approximately a year after Chaos;Head event, in Akihabara. According to Chiyomaru Shikura, who headed the planning of Steins;Gate, Akihabara was chosen because it is an easy place for acquiring hardware parts which makes it the ideal place for people interested in inventing and tinkering with things.
Okarin Rintarou aka. Kyouma Hououin is a self-proclaimed mad scientist and super skinny guy (in my view) who is often babling about his own future machine and so-called “organization” which always interferes his work (the identity of this “organization” is still unveiled yet).

He is often accompanied by his childhood friend Mayuri “Mayushii” Shiina, a bit airheaded moe and loves cosplaying girl.
Yes, yes, bent down again, Mayuri, show your bust to those perverts!

(bu
At the first episode, Okarin & Mayuri went to a science press conference held by Doctor Nakabachi at Radio Kaikan Building. When the professor explained about his future machine theory, Okarin accused him that all of the theories resembled as John Titor’s. Wow, even that hoax-or-not-John Titor becomes a cameo in this anime. Trying to avoid the fire, a cool-looking girl immediately dragged him out of the hall...
, with that emotionless face asked him what would he say to her 15 minutes ago, despite in Okarin’s memory, he hasn’t met her before.
a guy who likes to talk to himself on the phone...
It appears that the girl is Makise Kurisu, a famous scientist who wrote an article in Science journal at her young age. Having suspected that Makise is from “Organization”, Okarin managed to run away from her (foolishly), leaving the girl’s question in riddle.

Moments later, when Okarin was along with Mayuri again, he suddenly heard a screaming voice from upper floor...to his surprise, what he saw was...

He texted his friend Itaru about the incident, and right after he pressed the send button...

Mysteriously, Mayuri stood in front of him offering drink link nothing happened...still with that oh-you’re-stupid-but-because-you’re-cute-i-forgive-you face. A few debris fell down between them, it was a satellite crashed down to the Radio building.

The scene then changed to Okarin’s lab that apparently is rented by a muscular man who runs a TV repairing store. Okarin and his two friends (Mayuri & Itaru) were discussing about their modified microwave which can transform normal banana into green-gel-like-substance-covering-the-banana. The microwave is actually the key of this story later.
By the way, it’s called gel-bana (read: geru-bana!).

Still wondering about the previous bizarre things Okarin experienced, he asked his friends and the facts that he got: the satellite crashed down the radio building at noon, right by the time of Doctor Nakabachi’s press conference supposed to be, that press conference was cancelled, the text about Makise was sent a week ago. What a twist ending of first episode! What a time paradox! End of the first episode.
